My mother was at ManorCare in Whitehall for 3 weeks until we moved her to another facility for the lack of care and poor treatment she was receiving there. Call bells went unanswered for hours, she was not regularly washed. Although there for IV medication and severe back pain, she was coerced into aggressive physical therapy that caused her increased pain.

All seems great -- the staff answers patients call bells fairly quickly, etc. But if your loved one is put in one of the other wings. The other wings are not regularly cleaned, the staff is never around and the meals could take up to two hours to be delivered. Also, for my Dad, they forgot to serve him a couple of his meals. I found a patient had fallen out of his bed, told two nurses, and watched as they both completely ignored the patient's distress calls. Eventually, they came to help him and then chastised him for falling down.
Provide care for residents in a way that maintains or improves their dignity and respect in full recognition of their individuality. Prepare residents for a safe transfer or discharge from the nursing home. Provide pharmaceutical services to meet the needs of each resident and employ or obtain the services of a licensed pharmacist. Procure food from sources approved or considered satisfactory and store, prepare, distribute and serve food in accordance with professional standards.

Fortunately we were able to find another facility that would take her and she was treated with kindness and compassion. I would NEVER recommend Baldwin Health Center to anyone needing long term care. If you have a loved one in this facility you MUST be vigilant in getting staff to adequately address their needs. My brother’s breathing issues were overlooked by the charge nurse for 3 days. When an aide caught it, my brother was taken by ambulance to mercy Hospital. He died of a lung infection 5 weeks later.if you can find another facility, please do so. As a former resident with CHF, I was sent there by Mercy Hosp. The rehab services were things I could have done on my own and the food service was unprofessional.
If you can choose to put your loved one anywhere else, do so. The quality of care at this facility is extremely poor. My friend''s family is not local so there no one to hold the staff accountable, and they do not listen to me because as a friend, I hold absolutely no power and they know it. The food is very good, and the staff is wonderful, but some of the younger ones tend to take off without notice, so a lot of the really good ones get stuck with too much work. They need to get rid of the younger ones and hire someone more dedicated, and they could use more variety in activities. There are may positives to Highland Park care. There are also some negatives about Highland Park Care Center. As in most places that care for the elderly, not all of the people are as honest as they may appear. There were problems with missing money and clothing mix-ups after their clothes are laundered. Other than theft of money and clothing mix-ups it is still a good care facility.
This means if you are part of medicare or medicaid program, you may consider this nursing facility for your medical needs. It was first certified by CMS in and the last quality survey was conducted in August, 2019. Staffing hours per resident is the total number of hours worked by the staff divided by the total number of residents. It doesn't necessarily show the number of nursing staff present at any given time or the amount of care given to any one resident.
